Trail Less Traveled

The creek that follows the Laurel Fork Trail in Hampton, Tennessee. The uniqueness of the trail is that you hike through about 25 creek crossings with small waterfalls around them. Our hiking boots are still wet!

Doe River Gorge Trestle

In the early 1880s the East Tennessee and Western North Carolina Railroad built a rail line from Johnson City, TN to Boone, NC.   The steep Doe River Gorge was chosen for part of the route, and after heavy blasting through the cliffs and then filling and bridge-building operations, a narrow gauge track opened in 1882, going through tunnels, around narrow ledges, and crossing the river several times.   The is one of those crossings.  the steel of the trestle is still intact, but much of the wood is long gone.

Lake Zwerner

 Lake Zwerner provides most of the City of Dahlonega's water supply along with a great recreational area.  The lake offers fishing, mountain and lake side walking trails, and picnic areas.

Fort Mountain

Fort Mountain, nestled in the Cohutta Wilderness in Northern Georgia.     At the top it has a mysterious 885 ft long wall, which was thought to have been built by early Indians as fortification.

The Old First Church

The Old First Church was gathered in 1762, the first Protestant church in Vermont. Much of the early history of Bennington and of Vermont took place in and around the original Meeting House, built in 1763, and the present church, built in 1805 and dedicated January 1, 1806.
