Big Thompson River

The headwaters of the Big Thompson River begin in Forest Canyon within Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. The river flows east through the town of Estes Park and held in Lake Estes by the Olympus Dam before being released into the Big Thompson Canyon.

Ypsilon Mountain

Ypsilon Mountain (far right peak) stands 13,514 ft above sea level, and is accompanied by Mount Chapin (left) and Mount Chiquita (center). They are located in the Rocky Mountain National Park.  This photography was taken from a viewing area at Horseshoe Park, a name given from the meandering river that flows through the valley and could have possibly resembled horseshoes to early settlers.
